Cast Steel Stretchers Ready for Machining

	The cast steel stretchers have been returned from successful Non Destructive Testing and are now scheduled for final machining in the second week of August. The datum points have been marked on the stretchers. These cast steel stretchers were to be used on the second batch of Clans and were not part of the original Clan design. The Britannias suffered from frame cracks around the hornblocks. The Duke of Gloucester loco used these cast steel stretchers to provide more support in the hornblock area to address this problem. The Duke's design was to be used in the Lot 242 Clans The round sections on the top stretcher will be machined to accept the brake shaft bearing housings
