Highslide JS The halves are joined together with 7 construction bolts with a 75mm screw thread. Sash cramps are used to hold the 2 halves together while the bolt holes are prepared and the bolts installed.
Highslide JS This is the finished job which will now change places with the other half (see next photo)
Highslide JS The second half now needs to be fastened together. The half sections are sat on the build cradle waiting fitting. The build cradle has eight castors, is designed to assemble the four sections that make up the whole pattern.
Highslide JS Work is now steadily progressing on the valve cylinder core box. This will be built along the same lines as the main cylinder core box but is more complex in that it will require sections of 3 different diameters. You can see that the section nearest the camera is different from the next section. The inverted sections are being used to brace the box while the glue sets.
Highslide JS This is one of the 3 routing jigs that Tony needs for the valve cylinder core box. Tony estimates that he will need to produce 80 sections in all.Tony says "The slightly 'Heath Robinson' dust extraction gives me twice the suck of the installed system by using two vacuums"
Highslide JS The blanks prior to routing are cut from a strip of birch ply.
Highslide JS The central piece is the result of the previous picture. The piece on the right is after routing; the nibs are cut off before inserting in the core box.

Tony reports "Ruth and I are now working a bit of a dual system. Ruth will continue the pattern as a whole and I’ll look after the core boxes and loose pieces in my own workshop. We are working on fitting the top two ‘quarters’ of the main cylinder pattern to line up with the bottom section. Here is the pattern in the workshop.
Highslide JS During this process, we’re cleaning up the ends of the sections to the correct profile by removing the lathe boss leftovers. This is before.
