First Cylinder Pattern Almost Complete
17/04/2018
  Highslide JS
Tony Dance has finished the turning of the first half of the main cylinder pattern. The 45 degree angle on the right hand side of the pattern with the green face is the plug that will engage with the socket on the second half of the pattern. Each of the 2 patterns also divides horizontally - you can see this split in the middle of the pattern as indicated by the plywood. The circumfrential bands are part of the cylinder casting. Tony now has to do the whole thing again with the seond half of the main cylinder pattern

Work on second half of cylinder pattern starts
24/04/2018
  Highslide JS
Tony Dance has now started work on preparing the second half of the main cylinder pattern for turning. The completed first half is still on the lathe. The second half is on the floor and Tony has finished taking the plank edges off with a power planer. Next job will be to clear up the sawdust and then get the second half on the lathe.

Bogie Stretcher CAD model completed
24/04/2018
  Highslide JS
With all of the components for the frame assembly now ready for assembly, the design team are focussing on the front bogie. Keith Greenhow, our CAD Expert, has completed the CAD model for the front bogie stretcher casting. This is the central structure for the front bogie. As this will be a one off casting, this is a candidate for sand printing of the mould in a similar way to the exhaust steam spider.
